On Sunday, Dec. 8, members of Mt. Vernon FFA traveled to Lake of the Ozarks to attend the annual Missouri Farm Bureau meeting and compete in the FFA Speaking Contest. Mt. Vernon senior Raegan Pendleton walked away from the competition as the state champion.

Mt. Vernon High School held their “Holly Jolly Christmas” homecoming on Friday, Dec. 13. The Mt’neers defeated the Diamond Wildcats 59-34. Prior to tip off senior, Isabel Cloud was crowned this years Queen.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 members of the Mt. Vernon High School band traveled to audition for spots on the 2025 All-State Band and Orchestra. Two members walked away with seats.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, Mt. Vernon High School senior Cheyenne Bieber signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and softball career as a Lady Norse at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College a Division 1 Junior College in Miami, Okla. Beiber plans to major in business.

Members of the Mt. Vernon High School Art Club have been busy decorating the windowpanes of buildings in downtown Mt. Vernon in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. The members of the Art Club will paint as many windows as possible until Thanksgiving.

Steven Calverley, the last of the nine people who were arrested in the 2020 murder of Sarah Pasco was pronounced guilty of all charges on Friday, Nov. 1, following a bench trial in Christian County.
