The Monett Area Chamber of Commerce announced Cheryl Caraway as its new executive director. Caraway officially began her new role on Monday, Aug. 24.

EPA suspends ethylene oxide monitoring in Verona

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced earlier this month that it was suspending its monitoring of ethylene oxide (EtO) in Verona, using special equipment located on the grounds of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

The Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen could soon undertake a citywide study of their water systems after much discussion at the Tuesday night meeting on Aug. 11. If approved, this could eventually lead to increased rates as the city improves its water systems.
