The Miller Cardinals have now tied the 2020-21 team with a 10-3 start after a pair of wins to open the Miller Invitational Tournament. However, the Cardinals were not done making history in their victories over Wheaton and Gloria Deo Academy.

Aurora senior Cameron Whitener was honored at this year’s Blue and Gold tournament with the $2,000 Logan Middleton Memorial Scholarship. Whitener was selected from a pool of 21 applicants based on their academic achievements and an essay on what sportsmanship meant to them.

The Mt. Vernon Mt’neers climbed all the way through the consolation bracket for the consolation championship last week. After falling in the opening round to Branson, the Mt’neers responded by defeating Skyline, Sparta and Crane on the way to that consolation championship.

The Mt. Vernon seventh grade girls basketball team placed second in the Big 8 Conference Tournament. They finished the season 9-5 overall and 6-2 in conference.

Finish the season 13-1, Big 8 Conference Champs
The Mt. Vernon eighth grade girls basketball team are this year’s Big 8 Conference champs. The team finished the season 14-1; undefeated in conference and their only out of conference loss to Fair Grove (24-27).

The Aurora Lady Houn’s had their eyes opened following an opening game loss against Clever. Since that 53-48 defeat to the Lady Jays, Aurora has won six straight games and none of them have been within 12 points.

The Mt. Vernon Mt’neer basketball team had a great showing at the 2024 Gem City Classic defeating El Dorado Springs and host Diamond, before falling to Lighthouse Christian Academy in the championship game.
