George Austin Deatherage

George Austin Deatherage, 66, of Verona, passed away Thursday, Sept.r 24, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on May 20, 1960, in Bakersfield, Calif.; the son of Tom and Ruby Jean Deatherage. He was a 1978 graduate of Aurora High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Bellm on Jan. 21, 1995. He and Mary shared 31 years of marriage and were blessed with one son, Clint.
 
He began working at an early age. He worked as a lineman for Empire/Liberty Electric for 36+ years where he retired in 2017. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruby Jean Deatherage; his sisters, Jeanine Deatherage and Debbie Walsh; his father-in-law, Lawrence (Buster) Bellm and mother-in-law, Louise Bellm.
 
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Clint; daughter-in-law, Peyton; two grandchildren; sister, Connie Blake and her husband Clair; brother-in-law, Mike Walsh; sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Heidlage; brother-in-law, Rick (Carol) Bellm; brother-in-law, Dennis (Neina) Bellm; sister-in-law, Patty (Tim) Osterloh; brother-in-law, Greg (Joyce) Bellm; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Bruce) Heman.
 
The family received friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, on Monday, Sept. 28.
 
Funeral service was at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, on Tuesday, Sept.29, with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in his memory, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
