Silgan plant leaving Mt. Vernon

Silgan Containers, a metal food-packaging manufacturer, is closing its location in Mt. Vernon. Vince Gochenauer, plant manager at the Mt. Vernon location, confirmed the plant’s closure, but declined to provide any further information. He directed all other questions to Bob Lewis, executive vice-president.
A phone message and an e-mail were sent to Lewis, however, no reply had been received as of press time. The business, a longtime employer in Mt. Vernon, currently employs 28 people.
