Landrum Drug closes after 18 years of business

Mt. Vernon’s Landrum Drug has closed its doors after 18 years in service to the town. Owners Adam and Jill Freitas announced the immediate closure of the pharmacy in a Facebook post on Oct. 27.

The Freitases stated that its customers would now use Hometown Pharmacy. It is currently unknown why the pharmacy closed. Despite efforts to contact the owners, no response was received.

“After 18 incredible years it's time to close this chapter. It's hard to put into words what this journey has meant to us,” said the Freitases in an online statement. “We want to thank our loyal customers and this community for all of your support and trust over the years. Thank you to all of employees we couldn't have done it without all of your dedication and hard work.”

The Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce also released a statement, thanking both owners for their years of service to the city.

“Sincere gratitude to Adam and Jill Freitas and Landrum Drug RX for 18 years of dedication and service to our community and region,” read the statement. “Your impact is immeasurable, and we are so appreciative for the way you served with your whole heart and all the love and passion you gave. A heartfelt thank you!”
