John H. Gwinup

John H. Gwinup, 85, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Henderson Nevada.
Born on July 5, 1940, in Litchfield, Illinois, he was cherished son of John Daniel Gwinup and Sarah Elizabeth (née Fogle). John graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1958. He then honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, specializing in the maintenance and targeting of Minuteman missiles. Following his military service, he graduated from Southwest Missouri State and established a successful, lifelong career as an industrial engineer.
While working in Oklahoma City, John met the love of his life, Rebecca. They were married on July 25, 1975, and shared over 50 years of deep love and devotion. A man of profound faith, John dedicated his life to serving Christ. As his engineering career took his family to various communities, he consistently stepped forward to serve as a church deacon in each new location. His missionary heart shone brightest through his 25 years of volunteer work with the World English Institute, where he taught English and shared the Gospel, culminating in his service concluding in January 2026. An avid outdoorsman, John also found great peace and joy in hunting, fishing and hiking.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Gwinup and Sarah Elizabeth Gwinup.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca; his sons Chris (Courtney) and Jeff (Jinie); his three sisters, Jane Roark (Jerry), Jean Kleeman (Frank) and Joan Cutbirth; and a legacy of multiple grandchildren and great-grand children; multiple great nieces and great nephews. He is remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a faithful servant of God and a proud veteran.
Interment was at Southern Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada with full military honors on Wednesday, June 3 2026.
