Happy rails to you; caboose finally leaves town

After a week of permit, worker and weather issues, the caboose at the Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce finally hit the road for its new home in Rogersville the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 15. After a two and a half hour trip, using roads other than I-44, the 1957 railcar ended up at Creedtown, an old west wedding venue in Rogersville. The caboose was sold by the MVACC Board of Directors who felt the caboose needed too much costly repair and maintenance to keep.
