Bruce Boyd

Bruce Boyd, 65, of Marionville, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born March 10, 1961, in Springfield, the son of Billy Eugene and Betty Anne (Pritchard) Boyd.
He was a 1979 graduate of Marionville High School and was a United States Army Veteran, having been recognized as an Honor Graduate, in Fort Sill, Okla. During his time in the Army, he went on to be stationed at Herzo Air Base in Germany, where he was a member of the Special Weapons Section. Returning to continue his service stateside, he became an Airborne Graduate, at Fort Benning, Ga. He also served in Artillery in Fort Hood, Texas, as well as in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. During his time in the Army, he received the Army Achievement Medal (3), Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, M16 Rifle (Expert), Hand Grenade (Expert), and NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2).
After leaving the Army,he worked for the Lawrence County Soil Conservation Department, as a District tech, introducing local farmers to a “No-till-drill,” a new method of seeding crops, while helping farmers with conservation practices. 
He later worked for Alpine Wood Products in Marionville, before retiring. 
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Smith and her husband, Don, of Aurora; the love of his life, Angie Brenner of Marionville, and her children, Megan Casey and Michael Coberley, of Clever, Jacob Norris and his wife, Megan, of Merriam Woods, and Cody Casey and his fiancé, Sabrinia Tongo, of Mt. Vernon and six grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Betty Boyd and his brother, Eric Boyd.
A graveside service under the direction of Williams Funeral Home in Marionville will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery, with full military honors. 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made payable to the Marionville City Dog Pound, in care of the funeral home.
