Freedom Bank of Southern Missouri announced that it and its parent bank holding company, Freedom Bancshares of Southern Missouri, Inc. have entered into an agreement to merge with Community National Bank, Monett, with Freedom Bank surviving the bank merger.

Big Adventures, LLC, a Mt. Vernon business that applied for a license to become a medical marijuana cultivation facility after medical marijuana was legalized in Missouri in November of 2018, was turned down for the license by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).

A fire at Dodd’s Route 66 RV Park near Halltown completely destroyed two RVs and did some damage to another before being put out by firefighters from multiple fire protection districts on Monday, Dec. 23. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Aurora voters will be asked to renew a one-half cent sales tax at the next election. The Aurora City Council voted to approve an ordinance putting the tax on the ballot during their meeting on Thursday, Dec. 19, following the second reading of the ordinance.
