John David Rice

John David Rice, 86, of Purdy passed away Feb. 24, 2020 while at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born in Pasadena, Calif. April 2, 1933; to the late John Foster and Clara (Ireland) Rice. He was married in 1953 in Monett to Edna Lovell; she survives.
He was a farmer and retired from Wells Aluminum in Monett, he was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Monett Church of Christ and the Monett American Legion.
Rice is survived by: his wife Edna; daughters, Debbie (Mark) Hardwick, Cheryl Rice and Joni (Brett) Moore all of Purdy; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Feb. 27, 2020 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services were held Feb. 28, 2020 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial followed services at the Arnhart Cemetery in East Purdy. Memorials may be made to the Fair Haven Children’s Home or the Arnhart Cemetery.
