Wheeler Furniture named Aurora’s Small Business of the Year

Wheeler Furniture was named the Aurora Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Small Business of the Year during the chamber’s award banquet on Saturday, Jan. 25. The award was given to Wheeler Furniture in recognition to their support of the community over the previous year.
Bill Hillman, owner of Wheeler Furniture, said he was completely surprised that his business won the award.
Shannon Walker, executive director of the Chamber, said Wheeler Furniture was awarded the honor due to their support of local events and organizations.
“This is a new award that we just started last year,” she said, “to recognize our businesses that give back to our community and are committed to building our community and are building our community up. Wheeler Furniture has done some pretty neat things over the past year, supporting local events and sponsoring things with the school.”
Hillman said Wheeler financially supports “all the fundraising groups,” including the schools, churches and civic groups. He is also a member of the Rotary Club, the Chamber and is on the Bright Futures Council.
“We try to be involved with the community as much as we can,” he said.
As far as business goes, Hillman said Wheeler Furniture stands out because of the quality of the furniture they sale, and because they provide superior customer service.
“(It’s) just the hometown service as much as anything,” he said. “We guaranty the lowest price, and we give free delivery. We take care of any service issues and have a pretty big selection for the size of town we are.”
As far as receiving the award, Hillman said he is still proud to know there are people who think so highly of his business.
“It was an honor,” he said, “and I think it’s great that there’s somebody out there that thinks that much of us and our business, and hopefully (we’ll) do business for quite a few more years.”
