Suspect wanted in connection with stolen vehicle captured at gunpoint by homeowners

A man wanted in connection with the theft of a vehicle was captured by two homeowners who found him on their property, according to information provided by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, described as a six-foot tall white male, in his late 20s and weighing about 200 pounds, avoided a joint effort by Lawrence and Greene County deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol to capture him on Saturday, Aug. 10. Greene County deputy sheriffs set up a perimeter at State Highway K and State Highway 266 to assist in the suspect’s capture, but did not locate him.
A witness spotted the suspect on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 11 at the 1700 block of S. Farm Road 49 and again at the 62.4 mile marker of I-44. The suspect, apparently on foot at that time, ran into the woods after being spotted. He was seen walking with a stick and appeared to be injured.
The homeowners who apprehended the suspect found him on their property when they arrived home. They held him at gunpoint until Greene County deputy sheriffs arrived to take him into custody.
