S & L Donuts coming to Mt. Vernon

S & L Donuts is coming to Mt. Vernon, as small signage has already gone up in front of the bakery’s future home, the former Red Barn Cafe at 107 W. Mt. Vernon Boulevard. 
 
The bakery already has three locations, two in Springfield and one in Republic. S & L owner Kim Hoeun Seng said that this new location exists to capitalize on a niche that is currently underrepresented in the community of Mt. Vernon. 
 
S & L will serve doughnuts, coffee and other breakfast foods. Most locations close at 1 p.m.
 
There is currently no timeline on when the bakery will open its doors to the city of Mt. Vernon but Seng said that, thanks to the already existing kitchen and food-preparation equipment left over from the Red Barn Café, set up should be easier than usual.
