Pierce City’s Fryer arrested after kidnapping attempt

Being held without bond on felony and misdemeanor charges
A Pierce City man was arrested and charged Thursday, July 27, for attempted kidnapping and child endangerment following an incident early that morning. According to a press release, at approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, Monett Police officers responded to a business located in the 800 block of E. Cleveland Ave. in Monett. Officers made contact with the victim, an 18-year-old female from Pierce City who stated that while at her workplace, the suspect was in a vehicle with a small child. The suspect, later identified as Aaron Michael Fryer, 34, of Pierce City made contact with the victim and attempted to abduct her. The victim fled to safety and contacted the police department.
During the investigation the suspect was identified and subsequently arrested without incident with the assistance of the Pierce City Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. The small child was also located at home safe with their parent.
Fryer is currently being held without bond in the Lawrence County Jail. He faces charges of felony assault-second degree as well as misdemeanor kidnapping-third degree and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child- second degree. He was arraigned on July 31, and held with no bond. His next appearance is scheduled for Aug. 14.
