Jones named Citizen of Year

After two-year, COVID hiatus, MV Chamber brings back banquet
It was a Missouri Saturday night at Southern Charm Estate where the Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the return of its annual banquet. The mostly-formal affair was replete with live music by Holly Steward, entertainment by Jason Lacey, a delectable meal by Sum-R-Sweets and a live auction called by Dallas Ross. The highlight of the evening, though, may have been the recognition of local chamber members and businesses for their year-round efforts.
“This year we celebrated the return of in-person events and enjoyed a crowd of 150-plus. Our board stood up to trying times and pulled out a win for our local businesses,” Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Pam Dudley said. “Changing the format offered a chance for a shorter program with more focus on our members… Our live auction with Board Member Dallas Ross was a highlight and netted nearly $3,000 for the night. We are most grateful for our member Southern Charm Estate which allowed us the use of their gorgeous venue at no cost.”
