Garold L. Wormington

Garold L. Wormington, Mt. Vernon, passed away on June 22, 2026. He was born on Feb. 5, 1944, in Mt. Vernon to Homer L. Wormington and Esther E. (Meyer) Wormington. A proud seventh-generation resident of Lawrence County, he descended from one of the twelve pioneering families who settled Southwest Missouri in the 1830s.
He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University. An entrepreneur and inventor, he was self-employed for much of his career.
Faith was a cornerstone of his life. He and his wife were active members of Union Grove Church in Aurora, where they shared in the life and fellowship of their church family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebekah Swain; two daughters; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer L. Wormington and Esther E. (Meyer) Wormington, and his beloved sister, Wanda Mae Tettenhorst.
