Cubs baseball has rough week, Lady Cubs soccer goes 2-1 last week

The Monett High School baseball team played three games last week but unfortunately lost all three of them.

 

The Cubs hosted Forsyth on Friday, May 1 but lost to the Panthers 5-2.

 

Forsyth jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Monett answered back with a run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game. Monett scored their second run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Forsyth pitched great the rest of the way, holding the Monett hitters scoreless before scoring four runs of their own in the top of the seventh inning to win the game.

 

Brayden Seitz was 2-3 with a double, Dylan Washick was 1-3 with a double and Tucker Anderson went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.

 

Monett played at home against Mt. Vernon on Thursday, April 30 but fell to the Mt’neers 3-1.

 

The first three innings of the game was scoreless before Monett scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. A few innings later, Mt. Vernon answered back with two runs in the top of sixth inning and solo run in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win.

 

Miles Young went 1-3 with a double and a run scored and Washick was 1-3 with an RBI.

 

Monett traveled to Class 5, 10th ranked Marshfield on Monday, April 27 but came home with a 10-0 loss to the Blue Jays.

 

Seitz, Young and Pablo Rueda all had a hit in the game.

 

Monett is 11-10 on the season and were scheduled to play at Springfield Central on Monday and Lamar last night before hosting Clever tomorrow night.

 

Girls Soccer

 

In Girls soccer, the Lady Cubs lost at Bolivar, 6-0 on Friday but defeated Aurora 4-0 on the road on Tuesday, April 28. The Lady Cubs defeated Joplin 3-1 at home on Monday night.

 

Monett is 7-12 on the season and were scheduled to play at Carthage on Monday night before hosting McDonald County last night.
