Construction advancing on Amazon warehouse in Monett
The above view, looking northwest, shows what may be the eastern edge of the Amazon warehouse under construction in Monett, between two large mounds of pushed earth. Construction crews have brought in mounds of gravel, covered on weekends, that may serve as bedding for utility lines or footings for the building. The Tyson Foods hatchery is visible at rear left. Earthwork flattening the site has been the main early focus
After two months of steady work, construction crews on the Amazon warehouse in Monett have cleared much of the 25 acres of land on the north side of Chapell Drive where the new 119,152 square foot warehouse will be built.
According to a news release from the Monett Economic Development Committee, the facility will employ approximately 100 new workers in Monett, in addition to driving opportunities through Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner and Amazon Flex programs.
Construction “is part of the company’s $4 billion investment to expand its delivery network in rural communities across the country.”
As a delivery station, the Monett warehouse will “power the last mile of Amazon’s order process and help speed up deliveries. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles, and delivered to customers.”
“Amazon looks forward to growing its investment in southwest Missouri with a planned last-mile facility in Monett, to help increase delivery speeds for our valued customers,” said Jason Bangalis, Amazon economic development manager. “Due to a great partnership with the Monett Economic Development committee, we’re proud to bring new opportunities to this dedicated workforce in the region.”
An Amazon local representative reported the warehouse may open as early as June 2026.
