Big 8 basketballers named to All-Conference teams, Mt. Vernon, Monett and Aurora see players nominated

The Big 8 Conference has released their 2025-26 All-Conference boys basketball teams and three schools led with three players chosen: East Newton, Nevada and Mt. Vernon. Lamar had two players selected and Aurora, Cassville, McDonald County and Monett each had one player selected.
 
For the Mt’neers, Senior Hunter Conway was named to the first team, Senior Hunter Dawson was placed on the second team and Sophomore Griffin Cordray was named an Honorable Mention.
 
Aurora had Senior Thomas Lara named to the second team and Monett saw Junior Jack Stephens placed on the Honorable Mention team.
 
Nevada’s Shaun Gray was named the Coach of the Year and Mason Majors of Nevada was named the Player of the Year.
 
Girls selections
 
The Big 8 Conference also  released their 2025-26 girls All-Conference teams and Cassville, McDonald County and Nevada led with three selections each. Mt. Vernon had two selections, while Aurora, East Newton, Lamar, Monett and Seneca each had one selection.
 
Mt. Vernon Freshman Ellie Eddington was named to the first team and Junior Emmie Schubert was named an Honorable Mention. Senior Lady Cub Kilee Wilson was named to the second team, while Aurora Senior Brooke Blevins was placed on the Honorable Mention team.
