Suspect allegedly claimed to prefer girls aged 11-14; arrest marks second such instance this year for Aurora School District

A staff member at Aurora High School is in police custody following an alleged sexual abuse that was brought to administrators’ attention on Nov. 3. The man, Brian Adams, is charged with sexual contact with a student and sexual abuse, marking the second time such an event has happened at Aurora schools this year.
Brian Adams, 35, was a technical support specialist at Aurora High School during the time the event allegedly took place. According to a probable cause statement, Adams was alone with the victim in his office, having closed the door behind them. During this time, the victim was scrolling on her phone when Adams initiated sexual contact, kissing and groping her; the victim then pushed him away. The victim claimed that she asked Adams if he was a pedophile, to which he replied that he was actually a “hebephile,” defined in the probable cause statement as someone with “a sexual preference for children in early adolescence, between ages 11 and 14.”

Cameras used for investigation
As part of the investigation, authorities gained access to the camera system at the school. Upon investigation of the footage, detectives state that the door was closed for approximately seven minutes and that the timelines of the victim’s story and the video footage match. Detectives also noted that the victim’s demeanor changed noticeably after the incident.
This was originally brought to the attention of the administration by a friend of the victim, identified as a confidential witness in the probable cause statement.

Second time for school district in 2025
This is the second such incident of the year at Aurora High School, as Kyle Doss was arrested for sexual conduct with a student on January 31. Doss was accused of messaging a student originally on TikTok, then on the phone and other social media apps, where they shared explicit photos.

Superintendent addresses situation
Upon inquiry of this most recent incident, Superintendent Ben Yocum said, “On Tuesday, 11/4/25, the district was made aware of allegations of inappropriate contact between a student and a support staff member. The district immediately removed the staff member and notified the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The district will follow its board policies related to the investigation of the allegations and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement. Our priority remains ensuring the safety of all students. The Aurora-Marionville Police Department most recently shared that the individual is in custody. Please note that the individual will have no contact with students at school during the pendency of these investigations.”

Currently incarcerated in Law. Co.
Adams is currently in custody at the Lawrence County Jail. He is facing charges of sexual abuse in the first degree, a class C felony, and sexual contact with a student, a class E felony.
