At the May 23 Mt. Vernon Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Scott Cook presented the annual bullying/harassment report which included some positive news. Cook said that the total bullying reports were down this year and there were only 30 reports total.

The Missouri State Legislature passed 15 house and senate bills which were ultimately signed into law by Governor Mike Parson during the 2019 Missouri State Legislative Session.

Great weather, family fun welcome hundreds to the Mt. Vernon square for countywide annual fundraiser
The 2019 Lawrence County Relay for Life took place on the Mt. Vernon town square the evening of Saturday, June 8. An estimated 200 people attended the event.

A design has been selected for the future “Welcome to Mt. Vernon” sign. The Visioning Advisory Committee posted a concept photo of what the new sign will look like on their Facebook page on Saturday, May 25.
