Robert Frederick “Bob” Bremer

Robert Frederick “Bob” Bremer, 78, of Monett passed away on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 at Mt. Vernon Place Care in Mt. Vernon.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1947, in Monett, the son of Oscar and Mabel (Schoen) Bremer. He attended and graduated from Trinity Lutheran grade school, then on to graduate from Monett High School. He joined the National Guard after high school and served 14 years. He worked at Jumping Jacks (later Monroe & Co.) for 33 years until it closed. He then went to Schreiber Foods in Mt. Vernon and worked 12 years before retiring to work as a cattle farmer on the family farm. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church all his life.
On Aug. 3, 1973, in Wheaton, he married Janice Diane Kelly. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past year.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Jan; one daughter Brittany Rhodes and husband Ryan of Springfield; two step-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janie Bremer.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Reverend Jake Sletten officiated. Interment was at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LWML-Ladies Aid or Freistatt Lions Club. Arrangements are under the personal care of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
