Rebels Bluff Troupe is “All Shook Up”
Local theater group performance based on well known Elvis medleys
The Rebels Bluff Troupe performed “All Shook Up,” a jukebox musical featuring 24 songs written and/or recorded by Elvis Presley at the MARC from Thursday, July 15 through Sunday, July 18. The musical takes place in a quiet 1950s midwest town. Chad, a motorcyle-riding, guitar playing “roustabout,” recently released from prison, lands in town while his motorcyle is being repaired. Chad’s rock-n roll ways soon turns things upside down, particularly upsetting Mayor Matilda Hyde, the town’s self-proclaimed “moral compass.” Natalie Haller, daughter of the local mechanic, is instantly smitten with Chad, but he ignores her in favor of Miss Sandra, keeper of the local museum. Unaware that Dennis, her best friend, has his own crush on her, Natalie disguises herself as “Ed,” another roustabout, and becomes Chad’s sidekick in an effort to get close to him. Meanwhile, Chad inspires Dean, Mayor Hyde’s son, to pursue a romance with Lorraine, the daughter of Sylvia, owner of the local honkeytonk.
