John Ralph Hood

John Ralph Hood, 62, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1963, in Springfield and resided in Miller.
He was a devoted Christian and father to his two children, Brandon Hood and Sarina Hood. Also, grandfather to his beloved five grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judy and Ralph Hood. He is survived by his siblings, Steve Hood, Jane Hood, Sheryl Hood and Phillip Hood.
He was actively involved in Summit Baptist Church and local Truck Stop Ministries (TSA Truck Stop). He served both near and far, traveling on mission trips to Africa, Costa Rica and Mexico. He was a proud member of the CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) and was actively involved in Jeep Junkies and the Jeeps O’Pete 4x4 Club.
A funeral service, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, was held at
11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Summit Baptist Church, with burial following at Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to Summit Baptist Church or Sycamore Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
