Bond set at $1 million for alleged shooter of Amazon driver on Feb. 5
Three months after he allegedly shot an Amazon delivery driver and caused an injury that ultimately led to her death, a Wentworth man has been granted the opportunity to post bond in the case. Thomas Coy, 65, must post a cash or corporate surety bond of $1 million to be released from the Lawrence County Jail. The bond was granted on Monday, May 12.
Coy allegedly shot Jasmine Skye Taylor in the head on Wednesday, Feb. 5, while she was driving an Amazon delivery van, causing her vehicle to crash. After shooting her, he allegedly took her out of the van and laid her in a ditch. No motive was identified for his actions in a probable cause statement regarding the case.
A witness called 911 to report the crash, and Taylor was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin; she died four days later of her injury at the age of 23.
Originally charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the case. After Taylor’s death, he was also charged with first-degree murder. As of April 15, Coy remains charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Coy is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 9, for a disposition hearing. As of press time, he remained in custody at the Lawrence County Jail.
