(From the Nov. 14, 2012, Lawrence County Record) Miller football finishes season with 48-25 loss to Valle Catholic Saturday, Nov. 10.
Tyler Fallert scored seven times and Ste. Genevieve Valle Catholic rolled to a 48-25 victory over Miller in the Class 1 quarterfinals.
But before he did his damage, Miller jumped into a 3-0 lead, as Jordan Jack connected on a 31-yard field goal.
That followed a Cardinal punt to the Catholic 1-yard line. Miller recovered a Valle fumble inside the 5, but couldn’t move.
Valle then scored 22 unanwered points. Fallert scored on a 7-yard run. Kevin Kutz added the kick for a 7-3 Catholic lead.
That was the score at the end of the opening quarter.
In the second period, Valle got on the scoreboard again on a 66-yard Fallert run. After the PAT, it was now, 14-3.
It became 16-3 when the Warriors blocked a Miller punt into the endzone.
Back to Fallert the Warriors went, as he tallied on a 4-yard run late in the half. That made it 22-3.
Just before the half, Derrick Estell scored on a 8-yard pass from senior classmate Dustin Gulick. Jack’s PAT made 22-10, Valle at the half.
Then, Miller scored on a 6-yard Gulick run to cap a TD drive with the second-half kickoff. That made it 22-17.
But the Warriors then had four consecutive touchdowns from Fallert to ice the game.
Fallert scored on runs of 1, 78, 32 and 55 yards, leaving his team on top, 48-17.
The Cards got on the board one more time, as Chris Collins scored on a 12-yard pass from Gulick. Estell caught a 2-point pass from Gulick after the TD.
Miller finished the season 12-1 under Coach Dustin Baldwin. The loss ended the careers of seniors Gulick, Estell, Collins, Brock Johnson, Johnny Dunlap, Tevon Lee, David Rose, John Nunez, David Hartley, Jacob Lundguist, Kyle Davidson and Colton Sullivan.
