Elijah Melton Killman, age 84, of Willard, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Willard Care Center. He was born December 27, 1928, in Enon, Arkansas, the son of the late Louis and Ella May (Powell) Killman.
Elijah was a 1949 graduate of Butterfield High School and served as a medic in the U.S. Army. He worked for MFA Mills in Aurora, DAYCO Products in Springfield and Cuddy Farms. Elijah was a devoted man of God and was a member of the New Dawn United Pentecostal Church. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan an avid reader.
On December 26, 1953, he married Sylvia Moore in Monett, Missouri.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sylvia Killman of Willard; four sons, Rick Killman of Crane, Michael (Luan) Killman of Willard, Dennis (Debra) Jonesboro, Arkansas, Dwayne (Kari) of Towanda, Kansas; two daughters, Diane Emerson of Willard, Eva Mae Johnson of Florissant, Missouri; two brothers, David Killman of Marionville, Hosea (Betty) Killman of Springdale, Arkansas; two sisters, Christine Spain of Monett, Ruby Roberts of Neosho; two sisters-in-law, Leonora Killman of Rogers, Arkansas and Evelyn Killman of Carthage; 19 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.
His two brothers, Jim and Steven Killman, and two sisters Gladys Mahurin and Elida Moudy preceded him in death.
A funeral service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the New Dawn United Pentecostal Church, 1103 E. High Street in Aurora. Burial will follow at Noland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, in the church sanctuary.
Memorial donations in Elijah’s memory may be made to the New Dawn United Pentecostal Church.
