Wilbur Wiley “Sonny” Woodward

Wilbur Wiley “Sonny” Woodward, 78, of Monett, passed away Jan. 2, 2020, while at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Woodward was born Dec. 17, 1941 in Ralston, Okla. to the late John and Lillie (Adams) Woodward. For a short time, he was in the National Guard, but then transferred to the Army Reserves, serving for over six years. In 1966, he married Gerry JoAnn Wages. During his years in Wichita, he was a salesman running a tool truck for Snap-On Tools. He later worked independently selling S&K Tools. He patented or helped patent several different tools through the years. In 1993, after moving to Monett, from Wichita, Woodward and his wife began Dar-A-Con Industries as well as owned and operated S&G Storage.
Woodward is survived by: his wife of 53 years; son, Darren Woodward, of Pierce City; daughter, Connie Bahl, of Colwich, Kan.; brothers, John Woodward and Chester (Darlys) Woodward; sister, Lillie Ann (Harry) Harrison; five grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at Maize Park Cemetery in Maize, Kan. Memorials have been requested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
