VIRGINIA RUTH MAYER

Virginia Ruth Mayer, 88, of Monett, Missouri, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, December 26, 2024, following a short illness. Virginia was born on February 14, 1936, in Lawrenceville, Illinois; the daughter of the late Walter and Pauline Blanch (Swayze) Conover.
Following high school, Virginia earned her degree in Nursing. She was also a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett, Missouri.
On April 8, 1973, Virginia was united in marriage with Cecil Mayer in Monett, Missouri. They were blessed with over 40 years together before his passing on April 6, 2014.
Virginia is survived by two sons, John Hudson of Logan, Kansas and David Mayer and wife Catherine of Aurora, Colorado; two daughters, Kathryn Patton of Dubuque, Iowa and Beverly Childress and husband Dennis of Monett, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kim Hudson of Mounds, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Sean   Anderson and his wife, Jennifer, John Hudson III and Rashel Hudson of Mounds, Oklahoma, Casey Flock of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jared Childress and Matthew Childress; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Tarryn and Ryan Anderson and Kinley and Sydney Hudson; and a host of extended family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; one grandson, James Mayer, whom was raised by Cecil and Virginia; one brother, Amos Conover; and one sister, Fern Bougeno.
Private family services for Virginia were held at the McCormick-St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Monett with Reverend Andrew Kennell officiating.
In memory of Virginia, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
