Verl Dean Byers

Verl Dean Byers passed away Nov. 29, 2019. He was born July 1, 1951, to Walter and Ava Maxine (Slater) Byers in Cortez, Colo. He graduated high school in 1968 in Parker, Ariz. He graduated from Arizona Western College in 1971. In 1971, he married Fay Becker in a ceremony in Parker, Ariz.
Byers worked in research and development in high profile government missions, including the Pioneer Venus Orbiter and the Viking Orbiter. In 1976, he moved his family to Lawrence County, where he lived the rest of his days on his farm.
 He is survived by: his wife; sons, Brent (Stefanie) of Sarcoxie, Brad (Julie) of Joplin, Frank (Nadia) of Carthage,  Walter (Heather) of Greenfield, Michael (Samantha) of Diamond; daughters, Suzannah (Spence Moss) of Alba and Elizabeth (Jed) Hunt of Miller; brother, Larry; and sisters, Glennis Hayes and Micky Watts; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Walter; and sister, Wanda.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
