A portion of Madison Avenue in Aurora remains closed following the demolition and removal of a partially collapsed building in the downtown area. The old brick structure, formerly located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Madison Avenue and Olive Street, caved in on Wednesday, Dec. 18. No one was inside furing the incident.
The remaining wall of the building on the south side of the lot is now an exterior wall, formerly an interior wall as evidenced by the different colors of rooms and a fireplace surround that remains attached to the building’s second story. No word yet on what the future holds for the lot or the neighboring building. (Photo by Ryan Squibb)
