Toy A. Hill

Toy A. Hill, 75, passed away in his home in Willard, July 22, 2022. He was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Aurora, to Wilmer and Bettye (Melton) Hill.
Hill and Sharon K. (Smith) Hill were married Dec. 3, 1966, in Springfield. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps followed by the Naval Reserves before working at Consumers for more than 20 years. He then dedicated his career to protect and serve our community, first as an officer with the Springfield Police Department for several years, then with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. He moved up the ranks from deputy to detective and finally retired from the civil service division after nearly 20 years with the Sheriff’s Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Mick Hill, and his son Jeremy Hill. He is survived by his wife Sharon; brother, Rick Hill (Pat) of Springfield; brother, Steve (Kathy) of Springfield; daughter, Lisa Hanson (Jowell) of Atlanta. Also surviving are four grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. Thursday with a memorial service that  immediately followed from 7-8 p.m. at Lake Springfield Boathouse, 5324 S. Kissick, Springfield. Inurnment will be at a later date at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood, Springfield, with full military honors.
