Tapp

Marionville man involved in multiple cases in county involving drugs
A Marionville man was booked into the Lawrence County Jail after he was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine, and child pornography was allegedly found on his phone. Levi Orion-Khan Tapp, 52, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Facts of the case
According to the probable cause statement in the case, an officer with the Aurora-Marionville Police Department went to Tapp’s house on Thursday, April 4, in response to “an illegal burn.” When he went into Tapp’s house, he saw what he thought was methamphetamine crushed on a tabletop. The officer reported that he asked Tapp what the powder was, and that Tapp said that it was “his meth that he was about to smoke.” The officer said he also found a clear glass pipe that is often used in smoking meth.
The officer reported that Tapp had an active warrant and was taken to Mercy ER to be cleared as fit for confinement. The officer met Tapp and another AMPD officer at Mercy, where Tapp was asked for the code for his phone. Tapp gave the officer the code and gave permission to search his phone. The officer reported that he found four videos that appeared to be of girls around 10 years old involved in sex acts.
Tapp faces additional charge from 2023
Tapp is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance in Lawrence County stemming from an incident in May of 2023. According to the probable cause statement in that case, an AMPD officer arrived at Tapp’s residence where an unidentified person said he had items belonging to him in Tapp’s house, but Tapp wouldn’t let him enter.
Tapp gave the person permission to enter the house with the officer present. While he was in the house, the officer stated, he saw a syringe at the base of the couch Tapp was sitting on.
The officer asked Tapp who the syringe belonged to; Tapp said he didn’t know but gave the officer permission to take it. The officer said he took the syringe to his car and performed a field test on it, where it tested positive for meth.

Jailed, released on bond, jailed again
Online records show that Tapp was originally scheduled to appear in court around Oct. 23, 2023 but failed to appear. He was eventually arrested and booked into the Lawrence County Jail on Thursday, April 4, but was released on Friday, April 12, after posting a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, May 13.
Tapp was later booked back into the Lawrence County Jail on Monday, April 22, after the charges of possession of child pornography, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against him. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, May 23, for a preliminary hearing in that case. As of press time, he remained in the Lawrence County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
