SONYA KAYE RINKER

Sonya Kaye Rinker, age 77, of Chesapeake, Missouri passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at her home. She was born July 30, 1947, in Lawrence County, Missouri; the daughter of Clarence and Grace (Johnson) Garner.
Sonya was a 1966 graduate of Verona High School in Verona, Missouri. She was a beautician, loved to bowl and was a member of the Chesapeake Baptist Church. Sonya was very proud to serve the community in her little Hair Hut. She cut a lot of kid’s hair, then continued cutting their kid’s hair. From the first haircuts a kid would get, to the prom styles, to the wedding styles, and even the final styles before a visitation, she was there to serve. She was a very giving person who was also very loyal. If you were in her circle, you knew she had you.
On January 27, 1968, she married Kenny Rinker, in Chesapeake, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2001.
Sonya is survived by her son, Lafe Rinker and his wife, Angie of Chesapeake, Missouri; three grandchildren: Keaton Real and his wife, Lyric of Bentonville, Arkansas, Ada Rinker and Laken Rinker both of Chesapeake, Missouri; three great-grandchildren: Bentley, Brynlee and Burkley Real all of Bentonville, Arkansas; one sister, Beverly Stewart and her husband, George of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; and three brothers: Ronnie Garner of Verona, Missouri, Steve Garner and his wife, Nancy, of Madry, Missouri and David Garner and his wife, Linda of Verona, Missouri.
Sonya was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence, and Grace; her husband, Kenny; her daughter, Serena Archer; her grandson, Kolton Real; her brother, Darrell Garner and her granddaughter-in-law, Kaylie Real.
No services are planned at this time. A private burial will be held at a later date at Campground Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of the funeral home.
