An incident connected to the Monett Repurposed Faire left a security person injured and police searching for an identified subject.
Monett Police Lieutenant Dennis Camp reported the incident took place in the vicinity of the downtown pavilion, Front Street between Fourth and Fifth streets, where the Repurposed Faire was set up for activities and sales by vendors on Aug. 24 and 25. According to the police report, a male subject came onto the grounds at 5:55 a.m. on Aug. 25 and attempted to take goods from vendor booths. The festival staff member, monitoring the operation, was assaulted, receiving non-life-threatening injuries.
Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene, where the victim was treated. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.
The suspected perpetrator Laane M. Sneed, 28, was taken into custody by authorities at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, on multiple Monett warrants. However, a press release from the department stated that he is no longer considered to be connected with the fair incident.
