Roy James Williams, 90, passed away July 8, 2019 after a long illness.
Williams was born Dec. 18, 1928 at the family home, south of Aurora. He was the third son of Herbert Williams and Jewel Glen (Thomas) Williams.
He graduated from Eureka Grade School, Aurora High School and attended Missouri University, Columbia. He married Wilma Elaine Ramsey in 1950; she preceded him in death in 2005. They had a son, Terry, and daughters, Gloria and Brenda, who all reside in the Kansas City area. They lived in Kansas City for many years, where Williams owned an automobile repair business, before retiring and moving to the eastern part of Kansas City. Williams also served as an ordained Southern Baptist minister in Kansas City and various Missouri towns. Williams married Valda (Vehmann) Hagerman, a long-time family friend in 2005.
He is survived by: his wife Valda; children, Terry Williams, Gloria (Charlie) Walker, Brenda (Dale) Berry; brothers, Charles (Dolores) Williams of Sunrise Beach, and Martin (Garlene) of Unionville; sisters, Elsa Manes of Springfield; Willodean Vaught, Rebakah (Rex) Miller, Glenna Edmondson, all of Cassville; and Evalina (Gene) Shippee of Dillon, Mont.; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; Valda’s children, Kenda (Todd) Buehlig, Sabina (Steve) Chapman and Barron (Betsy) Hagerman. Williams was preceded in death by: both parents; brothers, Harold, Eugene, Thomas (Tom); and two baby sisters.
