Rev. Jack Tilden Smith

Rev. Jack Tilden Smith, 80, was born in Monett, on Sept. 4, 1945 to the union of Luther David Smith and Dorothy Mae Miller-Smith.  He passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026. 

He was a 1963 graduate of Purdy High School where he attended through his entire school career. 

Through the years he held many offices in various churches including Assistant Pastor of the Free Spirit Temple (the old Clay Hill Church) at Madry; Sunday School Superintendent at the Assembly of God in Purdy; Assistant Pastor & Pastor at Talmedge PCG of Aurora,  & the Assistant Pastor & Adult Sunday School Teacher at Union Grove Church of Marionville. 

On Sept. 10, 1964 in Monett, he  married Marilyn (Mary) Crowell, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Elizabeth, Julie & Jim; siblings John, Fred & Frank Smith; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren,  He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings (Paul, Noel, Mary Elizabeth, Loretta Mae, Ronnie, Melvin, Martha, Willard & Charlett) as well as 1 child, 3 grandchildren & 1 great granddaughter.

The outdoor funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 10 am under the pavilion at the Arnhart Baptist Church at East Purdy. Rev. Les Paul, a family friend, will be officiating. The funeral services will be held under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett.
