Mt. Vernon’s annual Fourth of July celebration, Red, White & Boom, is a go for this Friday as scheduled, but with limitations. As announced by the Red, White & Boom Committee, this year’s event will be slightly different than in years past.
Due to guidelines set forth by state health officials, concessions and novelties will no longer be allowed for purchase. There will also be no free swim or laser tag this year.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Papa Green Shoes beginning on the stage at 7 p.m. at Spirit of ‘76 Park and the fireworks display, presented by A.M. Pyrotechnics, will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Those attending are asked to observe social distancing as much as possible. Attendees are welcome to bring chairs and picnics or watch the display from their own vehicles.
This is the 18th year of the annual event.
