Pearl Lucille Chasteen-Hoover

Pearl Lucille “Lucy” Chasteen-Hoover passed away Nov. 9, 2019. She was born to Roy Kelso Chasteen and Rachel Dorcus Tiner Chasteen Feb. 1, 1932 in Lafe, Ark. She attended the public schools in Pierce City, graduating from Pierce City High School in 1950 and attended Everett Business College to study accounting.
She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Hermitage.  She was a dedicated and active member of this church until she moved to Tahlequah in 2017. She then transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Tahlequah where she attended services and was a devoted member to the Dorcas Sunday School class.
She worked in a shoe factory, she picked cotton and worked in the fields, but she began working at Westinghouse (later Philips) in 1966 and retired from there in 1998. After retirement she spent time doing volunteer work, visiting with those in Nursing Homes and was active in her community.
She is survived by: son, Everett Wayne (Verna) Hoover of Pierce City and daughter Evelyn Marie (Wade) Pinnick of Tahlequah, Okla.; brother, Claude (Judy) Chasteen of Pleasant Hope and sister, Pauleen Sweeney of Cassville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, as well as friends and church family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Paul Chasteen; and sisters Fran Houck and Betty Woods.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery North of Pierce City. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
