PASTOR HTOO GAY

Pastor Htoo Gay, 60, of Monett, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Htoo Gay  was born in Insein, Burma on April 10, 1964. He was the son of U Maung Maung Tin and Naw Lar May and grew up in a large family, being the fourth eldest of nine siblings, Byue May Paw, Ree Ta, Tin Maung Oo, Tin Maung Lay, Ree May, Pel Pel, Hel May and Tin Maung Thant.
Htoo Gay found love and companionship in Naw Lar May, whom he married in 2007. Together, they welcomed their cherished daughter, Law Hla Paw, in 2008, adding joy and purpose to their lives.
Pastor Htoo Gay started his education at the Full Gospel Bible Training Center, where he received a diploma in 1999. He continued his studies at the Rev. Dr. R.L. Pokey Memorial Theology School in Burma in 2003. He attended the Rhema Bible Training Center in Thailand to learn more about Christian teachings in 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Newburgh Theological Seminary in Indiana in 2017. In 2019, Myanmar Seminary Theology from St. Paul, MN ordained him, recognizing his dedication and contribution. In 2021, he received a license to baptize, perform Christian marriages, and administer the Lord’s Supper from New Site Baptist Church in Monett, Missouri.
Pastor Htoo Gay served in different roles during his ministry. He started as an assistant pastor at Spanpla Baptist Church in Thailand for four years. Then, he spent seven years at Samurana Baptist Church in the Maela Refugee Camp as a senior pastor. After that, he became the senior pastor at Karen Fellowship (New Site Church) in Monett, Missouri, where he served for seven years. He inspired many people in these roles with his strong faith and dedication to helping others.
Pastor Htoo Gay was a loving family man and a cherished community member. He was known for his kindness, which impacted many lives. His strong faith in Jesus Christ shaped who he was and guided him through challenges. Growing up in a lively neighborhood, Pastor Htoo Gay valued loyalty and friendship, and these values stayed with him throughout his life.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at New Site Baptist Church in Monett with Reverend Aaron Weibel and Reverend Garrett Maxey officiating. Interment followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
