New Mt. Vernon City Hall may be finished by mid-January, cost to surpass $1.15 million

After months of transforming the former Mid-Missouri Bank building into the next Mt. Vernon City Hall on the Mt. Vernon square, the end may be near. All remodeling and upgrading could potentially be done by mid-January of 2020, said Mt. Vernon City Administrator Max Springer.
The original remodel estimate came in at $435,000, however, as worked progressed it became apparent that more work and money was needed for the revamp of the large facility. With everything tallied, the final cost of the remodel will land at $478,258. Add that to the original purchase price of $675,000, and the cost of the new city hall will be $1,153,258.
