Neal Anderson

Neal Anderson passed away on Sept. 3, 2018, at Elfindale Manor, in Springfield, after a long illness. Anderson was born in Kansas City, Sept. 30, 1933, to Ted and Peggy Anderson.
After graduating in 1951, from Paseo High School in Kansas City, he attended Drury University where he earned a degree in economics. He was an active member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and met his wife Janet, a Pi Beta Phi, they married in Aurora, in 1956. After graduation Anderson was recruited to Officer’s Training for the United States Marine Corps, serving in Quantico, Va. and the Orient including Japan. Upon honorable discharge as a First Lieutenant, they returned to Missouri, settling in Aurora, where Anderson worked at Charles White Motors. Upon his father-in-law Charlie White’s unexpected death, he purchased the dealership and Anderson Motor Company continued selling cars until his retirement in 1992. Anderson was an active member of the community: serving on the Aurora Hospital Board, a member of Rotary, The Shrine International Fraternity, was a deacon for The First Presbyterian Church 1960-1963 and 1972-1975. In addition, Anderson continued to serve his country as a member of the Missouri National Guard.
Anderson is survived by: his daughter Leesa Anderson (Dr. Steven) Newbold of Springfield; son Douglas Frederic (Amy) Anderson of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren of Springfield; and a host of family. Anderson is preceded in death by: his wife; granddaughter Andrea Newbold; his brother Ted Anderson; and his parents Ted and Peggy Anderson.
    Visitation was held Sept. 7, 2018, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, followed by a celebration of life at First Presbyterian Church.
