The Mt. Vernon Board of Aldermen voted to accept a bid by A.T. Urban, from Chadwick, to complete Mt. Vernon Sidewalk Improvements, Phase 3, at the recommendation of Anderson Engineering.
A.T. Urban was the low bidder for the project with a base bid of $333,903.00, and alternative bid for Williams Creek Driveway at an additional $40,014.00 for a total of $373,917.00. The city received a total of seven bids for the project. The other bid amounts, including the alternative for the Williams Creek Driveway, were: Hunter Chase and Associates, $405,438.35; Branco Enterprises, Inc., $434,841.50; B3 Contractors, LLC, $443,264.50; D & E Plumbing and Heating, Inc., $510,315.00; Heating Construction, Inc., $511,975.25 and R.L. According to a letter from Anderson Engineering, the project is being funded by a TAP grant which will pay for 80-percent of the cost of up to $314,489.00. The base bid by A.T. Urban is $19,126.00 over that amount. Anderson also stated that if the board chooses to award A.T. Urban’s bid for Williams Creek Driveway, the combined award amount would be $373,917.00; the city would be responsible for $59,428.00 of the cost. It was not immediately clear if the board was also awarding A.T. Urban the alternative bid for Williams Creek Driveway.
