On Thursday, Dec. 19, the Mt. Vernon School Board presented Lisa Wilson with the December MVP Award. Wilson is a nurse at Mt. Vernon Elementary School.
When nominating her for MVP, some of her peers said:
“Nurse Lisa should be recognized every day for all that she does. That is why I am writing this recommendation for our MVP. She truly is that... each and every day. If you have someone that has a passion for kids in this position, you know that the school nurse can truly be the heart of the school. She is that... the heart of MVES.”

“Nurse Lisa goes above and beyond in her role, managing multiple high health needs throughout the entire building with professionalism, warmth, and behind the scenes that positively impacts others. She does this all with a smile on her face. Each day, she dedicates her time and energy to making sure every student feels safe, valued, and supported regardless of their health needs. Her commitment extends far beyond her medical responsibilities; she actively checks in with students throughout the day, building meaningful relationships and providing consistent emotional support.”

“From treating minor scrapes to responding to complex medical needs, Nurse Lisa shows genuine love and care in everything she does. Her open-door policy makes her a trusted figure, and everyone in the school - students and staff alike- values her as a true team player. Her impact is seen not only in the health and well-being of our students but also in the warmth she brings to our school community. She spends her own time and money to create a safe and loving environment for all students. She shows up early to school, and is always thinking of ways she can help someone. Nurse Lisa exemplifies what it means to serve with heart, and she is incredibly deserving of this MVP award.”

“Lisa builds relationships with students and parents. She truly treats these kids like one of her own. She is kind, compassionate and loving. She gives each kid a safe place where they can go to be taken care of, feel loved, and feel safe. Again she truly is the heart of MVES.”
