Mt. Vernon Elementary School and Mt. Vernon Intermediate School had 15 students chosen to display their artwork in the 2022-23 Missouri K-12 District Art Show at the MSSU Spiva Gallery.  This is the 11th year the event has been held, it is sponsored by District 9 of the Missouri Art Education Association. Artwork is chosen by the art teacher based on the guidelines set forth by the association. Both 2D and 3D artwork can be submitted.
This is the ninth year that MVES/MVIS Art Teacher, Janey Hood has been a part of the event.  “Only 15 pieces can be selected per teacher, so it is always difficult to chose pieces as I wish I could have something from everyone. I look for pieces that grab my attention through the elements and principles of art. I also look for good craftsmanship,” said Hood.
The District Art Show was set up on Dec. 17 and can be viewed by the public until Jan. 18. A reception for the students was held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the gallery. The reception for high school students was on the same day.
