Morris Howard Poe, Jr. (JR)

Morris Howard Poe, Jr. (JR), 72, of Springfield passed away Oct. 7, 2020. He was born on July 12, 1948 the son of Morris H. and Bessie A. (Bailey) Poe.
Poe was a 1966 graduate of Wheaton High School. He attended Crowder Community College in Neosho. He was married to Joyce Britton, Stacey Hawkes, and Diane Blevins.
He served on the Missouri State Highway Patrol from 1969-1999 when he retired as a Sergeant. He was assigned to Jefferson City, Eldon, Mt. Vernon, Fayette and Montgomery City. He was a uniformed trooper for 15  years followed by: original member of Division of Drug and Crime Control narcotic investigator, coordinator of the Lake Area Narcotic Enforcement Group Task Force, and State Membership Chairman of the Missouri Narcotic Officers Association. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Jefferson City and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Angela Poe-Walker (Thomas), Ashley Drewel (Ryan), Jason Poe, and Kelsi Poe; and six grandchildren.
Friends were received Oct. 17 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Prayer service followed. Inurnment was held in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter on Oct.18.
