Miller Cardinals win Marionville Invitational

The Miller Cardinals entered the Marionville Tournament as the number four seed, looking up at the top three seeds, Cassville (1), Spokane (2) and Buffalo (3), but the Cardinals disposed of two of those on its way to the title.
Miller opened the tournament and its season on Monday, Dec. 2, with a 65-50 opening round win over Marionvile. Nick Johnson led the Cardinals with 17 points, followed by Jjoel Kleeman with 14 and Presten Richardson with 10.
In the semi-finals, Miller edged the top-seed Cassville Wildcats 56-50. Kleeman scored 19 points and Richardson added 16 in the win.
The championship game was the widest margin of victory for Miller in the entire tournament, as they disposed of the number two seed, Spokane, by 17 points, 64-47. Kleeman and Richardson once again paced the Cardinals with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Miller, now 3-0 on the season, will travel to School of the Ozarks on Thursday, Dec. 12 and host Verona on Friday, Dec. 13.
