Marvin Lavell Gardner

Marvin Lavell Gardner, 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Dec. 16, 2019, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Walnut Shade, to Adren and Opal (Gray) Gardner.
Gardner was a self-employed carpenter and attended Northside Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. In 1974, he married Doris Mullins, in Marionville.
Gardner is survived by: his wife; daughters, Arletta Hadlow, of Aurora; Emma (John) Ormsby of Aurora; Laura (Rex) Richardson of Calhoun; and Lucinda (Bruce) Hall of Mt. Vernon; sons, Paul Elsey of Joplin; Dan (Bonnie) Elsey of New Hope, Minn.; and Pat (Liz) Elsey of Mt. Vernon; sister, Lola Eslinger of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Gardner was preceded in death by: his parents, Adren and Opal; son, Marion Gardner; and sisters, Vera Woolsey and Vivian Ewing.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Dec. 21, 2019, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a funeral service that followed. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
