Lorrain Kate Birchfield

Lorrain Kate Birchfield, 94, of Aurora, passed away, May 9, 2019, while at the Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora.
She was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Fredrick Louis Kistinger and Minnie Theresa (Kloss) Kistinger. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aurora, and had volunteered her time and service through the Hudson House serving Meals on Wheels for over 40 years. She was also a member of the American Brittany Club and the Aurora Rockin’ A Saddle Club. In 1943, she married Douglas Eugene Birchfield; he preceded her in death in 2010.
Birchfield is survived by: sons, Daniel J. Birchfield and David Jene Birchfield, both of Aurora; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Douglas Eugene “Sandy” Birchfield, Jr. and daughter, Darlene Ellen Compton.
Graveside services were held May 14, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
