LEONARD ANTHONY BAUER

Leonard Anthony Bauer, 82, of Monett, died Monday, March 13, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1940 to Toney and Rose Bauer in Paris, Ark., the youngest of six children.
He married Barbara Gorrell on Aug. 31, 1963.
After graduating from Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark., he embarked on his teaching career at Salem, moving to Seymour, and finishing his public-school teaching career at Monett High School.
A long time parishioner of both St. Mary’s Church in Pierce City and St. Lawrence Church in Monett, he served the Catholic community throughout the years by delivering Communion to residents at Lacoba and Oak Pointe nursing homes as well as those who are homebound.
He is survived by two sons: Blaise (Nancy) of Girard, Kan. and Brian (Courtney) of Monett and six daughters: Bridget of Springfield, Bernadette (Frank) Pinter and Bethany (Russell) Atchley of Fayetteville, Ark., Barbara (James) Lyall of Littleton, Colo., Benita (Derrek) Uhl of Republic, and Bianca (Bert) Mobley of Monett; one sister, Betty Lensing of Lake Providence, La.; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; brothers Charles and John; and sisters Dorothy Mae and Rosella.
Christian burial was held on Thursday, March 17.
